Each summer, the Huntington Hills Recreation Club offers swimming lessons to members and non-members wishing to participate. Run by experienced lifeguards and instructors, HHRC offers two types of swimming lessons, Group and Private .
Group lessons are offered based on a child's swimming level and are 30 minutes each day . Level 1 is for beginning swimmers and focuses on children's comfort in the water. Level 2 involves the acquisition of primary water skills. By the end of Level 2 lessons, a child should find success with fundamental skills, including floating and true locomotion skills. The last level, Level 3, is stroke-oriented. A student in Level 3 will learn how to swim freestyle and backstroke, treading in deep water, and retrieving objects under water. HHRC Group Swimming Lessons are taught by level in a class of no more than 4 swimmers. In most cases, Group Lessons are instructed only by veteran lifeguards and instructors. The cost for Group Lessons is $35 for HHRC members and $45 for non-HHRC members , and lessons run for two weeks (Mon-Fri., Mon-Thur.). GROUP LEVEL SKILLS OUTLINE
Private lessons are offered each session and run for a week (Mon.-Fri.). A child is placed with an instructor and he/she works on student, parent, and instructor goals for five days, 30 minutes each day . Students may learn anything from floating and blowing bubbles to diving and swim team readiness. The cost for five days of Private Swimming Lessons is $40 for HHRC members and $50 for non-HHRC members .
